As a guideline for the movement rates of wounded characters, apply a 1 step
penalty (3 attribute points) per wound penalty when calculating the
movement rate of a character.
As a guideline to simulate the effects of wounds on carrying heavy loads,
apply a 1 step penalty (3 attribute points) per wound penalty when
calculating the carrying and lifting capacities of the character. This is
so that the GM does not have to arbitrarily say, "You're too wounded to do
that," but has a good reason to say it.
A comparison of combat movement rates with overland movement rates shows
that combat movement in miles is a good approximation of overland movement
in one day. A party travels at the rate of the slowest member (usually
around 25 anyway) but an individual or a group of particularly fast
characters could travel faster if their combat speeds are higher. This is
also a good way to determine the distance travelled by mounts, creatures,
and wounded characters.
