Proficiencies and Specialisation's

House Rules: By Famine

This encompasses the more refined learning of a particular weapon.

To become proficient in a melee weapon a character must have the melee weapons talent/skill.
To become proficient in a throwing weapon a character must have the throwing weapons talent/skill.
To become proficient in a missile weapon a character must have the missile weapons talent/skill.
To become proficient in unarmed combat a character must have the unarmed combat talent/skill.

Each rank a character has in a particular skill or talent counts a 1 proficiency point of that talent/skill, e.g. a character has melee weapons at rank 6, he/she has 6 proficiency points in melee weapons.

To become proficient in a weapon a character must spend time training in that particular weapon (at least 1 week), and deduct the required legend points (see table). Becoming proficient in a weapon also reduces the character total number of proficiency by 2.

When a character is using a weapon they are proficient in they add 1 to there appropriate talent/skill.

E.g. Boris the warrior has Melee Weapons at 6 giving him 6 proficiency points in Melee Weapons. His favorite weapon is the Hand Axe. He decides to become proficient in the use of Hand Axe.

He approaches a trainer that is willing to train him in becoming proficient in Hand Axe. Boris spends a week training, paying the trainer the appropriate fee and spending the legend points. As becoming proficient in an weapon costs 2 proficient points, at the end of the week Boris will only have 4 proficiency points in Melee Weapons left.

To become specialised in a weapon a character must be already proficient in the weapon. Specialisation requires 3 proficiency points, 2 weeks training and legend points. Once a character is specialised in weapon he/she adds 2-steps to the appropriate skill/talent when using a weapon they are specialised. In addition to this they may also add 1 to the damage step of the weapon.
