Toxic carrots and oats coated with calicivirus are set to become the latest weapon in the rabbit war. An application will go to the national drug registration body this week to allow the virus to be given orally for the first time around the country. It has previously been administered by capturing groups of rabbits, injecting them with the virus and releasing them. The move comes amid concerns that the calicivirus has had little or no impact in many areas.
