Dr Dolittle, vegetarian and welfarist(The Dr Dolittle movie starring Rex Harrison.)

In the version of Dr Dolittle starring Rex Harrison, Dr Dolittle stated he was a vegetarian. At one point in the movie, he gave a great speech titled Why do we treat animals like animals?".

Rex Harrison as Dr Dolittle also gave a speech about why he was a vegetarian. In this speech he implied he did not eat animals becauae they were his friends "A dedicated vegetarian".

Most vegetarians don't crave for meat because even those who turn vegetarian after having eaten meat for years lose their desire to eat meat (including fish, chicken and red meat).

Most vegetarians have a commitment to stop animal suffering and also to save the environment. Everyone is aware that the meat industry causes terrible suffering to animals and harms the environment. In Australia, for instance, Queensland rain forest continues to be cleared to provide more grazing land to grow beef for export markets. Meanwhile, many people in nearby Asian countries are now being introduced to high meat diets. The spread of mostly USA based fast food outlets in Asian countries will increase the prevalence of diabetes and heart disease in these countries. It is attrocious that Western Society's search for new markets for meat and fast food profits will inflict ill health on societies who presently eat far healthier diets than Westerners eat.
