Cyberstalking - a definition and discussion

Cyber-stalking.net
"Cyberstalking is now considered a crime in many places and as a crime, its definition has varied with the locale or country. But apart from any legal definitions, cyberstalking refers to a pattern of behaviour. This site attempts to increase awareness about cyberstalking as a behaviour that: (1) may or may not be criminal behaviour depending on where one lives and (2) may or may not indicate mental illness on the part of the offender. Material on this site focuses on adults who cyberstalk other adults and provides actual case examples from the Web, usenet, and the news. This site does not deal with paedophilia or the stalking of children or adolescents, and it does not deal with other cybercrimes such as identity theft if the motive was simply financial gain. If identity theft is part of a campaign to harass or distress the victim, however, it will be included." (Quote from Cyber-stalking.net)

West Australian police have warned that paedophiles are using new mobile phone technology to prey on young children.

Police say they are alarmed by the rise in the incidence of stalking using the new phone technology.

South Australian police are investigating one man for repeatedly sending video footage of himself committing lewd acts to a 12-year-old girl in Perth.

Detective Sergeant Gordon Fairman says offences of this nature are escalating.

"That would be something we would be very frightened about," he said.

"I think it's a warning to all parents to be very careful about what technology they place in the hands of their children."

In a separate incident, Mirrabooka detectives have charged 24-year-old Clint Raymond Bunt from South Lake with repeatedly sending obscene images to three women in Perth in the last few months
