Click on the picture for a JPG photo of Adam Minchin standing on a rockpile BEHIND Mt Bridge which is a monolith of bat guano!!!! Unfortunately previous visitors have walked over the guano piles causing considerable damage. Click on the picture for a JPG photo of a fallen stal that has balanced above the floor then been recemented probably with a gypsum, halite mixture.
Click on the picture for a JPG photo of a massively corroded stalagmite. The remaining outer layer consists of calcite while the central core consists of ??????? What the hell is it!!! Comments please. Click on the picture for a JPG photo of an interesting formation consisting of the original calcite decoration subsequently overlayed with both gypsum and then halite.
Click on the picture for a JPG photo of the POM (Damian Grindley) looking at a cluster of halite stals. Chelsea SS (UK) will be proud of you Damian :-) Click on the picture for a JPG photo of Adam Minchin managing to stand still long enough for us to take this photo of him looking at two halite columns and a stal adjacent to considerable quantities of black calcite. Youngsters are so full of energy :-)
Click on the picture for a JPG photo of stegamite missing the top of the ridge. The medial crack and side layering is clearly visible. This find and one other increased the number of known Nullarbor caves containing stegamites to nine. Click on the picture for a JPG photo of two gypsum stalagmites. Attempts were made to photograph the impressive afterglow produced by flashing these formations - these attempts failed dismally :-( Note the lens cap in the foreground for scale.
