The combined data for each band are supplied as 16-bit integer. The Landsat 8 data was converted to 8-bit space by dividing by 256 to make it compatible with L4/5 and L7 data. However, this resulted in an initial dataset of real numbers (non-integer) in the band summation. However, unless you are using an ER mapper .ers file or equivalent, the simplest way of handling the data is as a 16-bit GEOTIFF. The change from real number to integer is very small, so will not affect the resulting images. The combined dataset is 140Mb (15Mb per band), as opposed to 1.5Gb for the non-integer .ers file.

Thermal band 6 is especially complex, but not used in any algorithm. However, for the creation of the complete TM3 dataset, both L8 bands 10 and 11, and L7 bands 6 VCID1 and 2 were scaled to the L4/5 data (L7 divided by 2, and L8 divided by 512). The 12 datasets therefore yielded 17 thermal bands without a bias towards L7 or L8.

Note that the band naming convention from the older L4/5 and L7 is used, i.e. Bands 1-7.

The data have been tested in QGIS and appear to be in order.
