Background and Illustrations
The Flood Barriers Australia (FBA) technology has been around since 1994 and in Australia since 1999, where following extensive testing by the New South Wales State Emergency Service (SES) this agency decided on purchasing substantial quantities.
This has been supplemented by the use for civil engineering purposes for cofferdams and river damming, and Sydney Water use it for damming up stormwater canals for repairs (see illustrations below).
Local manufacturing is available for FBA in its Australian and Asia/Pacific regions where it represents the Internationally multi-award winning Principal Geodesign AB.
It is understood that the tsunami affected countries could benefit particularly well with the system used both as flood defense and for currently required and future potential rehabilitation works.
