At the Briefing
The Boss and his offsider

"We're paddlers, we don't mind a bit of mud"
Pre-Race
Warm up pool in background - guys and gals get ready for the big race.
Paddlers approach start line. The far ends of the course have the green matting which absorbs water from wind waves to help prevent 'backwash slop'
The Race
Start 1- Alannah McTiernan, Minister for Planning and Infrastructure sounds the hooter to start the race - watch that paddler in the black Viper - did he fall in?
Start 2   (you can find out here)
The leading pack after one lap (Is that mound of dirt in the background our future white water park?)
Other Events
The Guppy paddlers get their briefing

Canoe Polo paddlers jostle for the ball

For an overall view of the facility click here to see aerial photo taken during construction, showing the islands, with warm up lake on one side and the course on the other, parallel to the Tonkin Highway. It is about two kilometres long. The top most island is the main one, being linked to the 'mainland' by two bridges. Landscaping and facilities are to come.
