The world's longest annual canoe race, held annually on the mighty Murray River, Victoria, from 27th to 31st December, annually. 404 kilometres over five days. Going since 1969! Entry Fee: $50 per person
plus minimum fundraising: $350 (single), and various other amounts for different categories (see their website)
All monies raised by this charity event are used by the Australian Red Cross, Victoria, to support its vital work within the local, national and overseas community.
From Yarrawonga to Swan Hill
Day 1 - 92 km; Day 2 - 96 km; Day 3 - 78 km; Day 4 - 62 km; Day 5 - 76 km
- These days around 1000 competitors take part in this huge event, most 'just' to finish!
- Do it alone or as a relay team using the one craft, in a single or double.
- Paddle a kayak, canadian or surf ski in open, veteran or junior classes.
- You will need a landcrew.
- Entry fee includes overnight campsites with showers and toilets.
- There is a comprehensive safety network as well as first aid available at every checkpoint and the overnight campsites.
- Massage is also available at the end of each day.
- All craft must be scrutineered beforehand. There is a late registration day at Yarrawonga, 26th December ($100 late fee)
