WA Paddling News, October, 2000

25/10/00SWAN RIVER CLASSIC PADDLE
Last weekend's big RLSSA marathon race with almost 700 competitors was a great success. Results are now online at RLSSA's site: http://www.rlssa.org.au/wa/sport/branch/branch.html
Of interest to canoe club members: Swan Canoe Club again won the prize for the most represented canoe club. Well done, though I hear that Ascot was pretty close this year.

OTHER MARATHONS
Dates for the next Katherine Canoe Marathon have now been announced: 9th & 10th June, 2001. Details of this 81 km race are on my website: http://www.iinet.net.au/~rokhor/canoe (Go to "Other Events") They have a web presence, but are waiting for their whiz-bang site to be finished. You can do this event AND the Avon. (It rarely rains enough here in early June to be paddling rapids and moving water).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALSO:
I have placed details of the Victorian Red Cross Murray Marathon on the website: 404 kilometres over 5 days, from 27th December, 2000. Some local paddlers have done these interstate marathon events and you can read their stories if you click on "Paddlers' Yarns" at the bottom of my home page.

LOCALLY
The next local canoeing association marathon race is the Island to Island, Sunday, 19th November. Chris Roll is the contact, 9451 3027.

There's an action photo if you click on "Paddlers' Pics" also at the bottom of my home page.

26/10/00 COLLIE WATER LEVEL
This weekend, 28th-29th October it is expected that the water level at the gauging station will be about 0.8 m to 0.85 m. (that is, 250 - 300 megalitres). Paddleable, but don't get excited.

From now on whenever I have the information as to the expected water release at Collie I will put it on my netsite, so as not to send out so many emails. (unless there's something worth shouting about!)

My netsite's URL for those who don't know:
http://www.iinet.net.au/~rokhor/canoe
Click on "Water Level" in navigation bar at top of page. Then click on Collie River

FOR SALE, LOST, etc
If you have an advert on the "Bulletin Board" and have sold your boat, or found your paddle, etc (that is, don't need the advert any more), please let me know!!!
Thanks.
