DONNYBROOK MARATHON RELAY RESULTS
It was a small, friendly event over new terrain. The paddle
and swim were on the blue, yes, blue, waters of Glen Mervyn Dam:
no logs or ti-trees, for a change, and you could see the opposition
paddlers over the whole course. You won't be disappointed if
you get a team together for next year. Check out the results:

RED CROSS-HERALD SUN MURRAY MARATHON, VICTORIA
WA paddler, Dave Ahmed still holds the record which he set way
back in 1991 for WWK1/MO (open men's whitewater kayak) over this
404 km race. . The results of the 2000 race are now online
http://www.interfusion.net.au/mrm/rsltpage/00/murray.htm
Scrolling down the postcodes of entrants I could not see anyone
from WA. Apparently there were about 1000 entrants, including
those doing the shorter course.

FROM KIERAN HYNES, SWCC
An Italian, a Scotsman and a Chinese bloke are hired at a construction
site. The foreman points to a huge pile of sand and says to
the Italian, "You're in charge of sweeping." To the
Scot he says, "You're in charge of shovelling." And
to the Chinese, "You're in charge of supplies." He
tells them all, "Now, I have to leave for a little while.
I expect you to get into that pile."
So the foreman goes away for
a couple of hours. But when he returns, the pile of sand is untouched.
He asks the Italian, "Why didn't you sweep any of it?"
The Italian replies, "I no hava no broom. You saida to the
Chinese- -afella that he a wasa in a charge of supplies, but
he hasa disappeared and I no coulda finda him nowhere."
Then the foreman turns to the Scotsman and says, "And you,
I thought I told you to shovel this pile." The Scotsman
replies, "Aye, ye did lad, boot ah couldnay get meself a
shoovel! Ye left th' Chinese laddie in chairge of supplies,
boot ah couldnay fin' him either."
The foreman is really angry
now and storms off toward the pile of sand to look for the Chinese
bloke ... Who then leaps out from behind the pile of sand and
yells ... "SUPPLIES!!"
