Some Paddling Pics from Canada
I've added some more pics of my paddling adventures in Canada <http://www.iinet.net.au/~rokhor/canoe/pinkertons.html>here. A special friend, Lyn Hancock, organised for us to use as our base an old (so old it 's almost historic) cabin on a privately owned island at the head of Barkley Sound in The Pinkertons. We were to explore the Broken Islands which are further down the sound. They are a popular paddling venue on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island.
The only way to get there was to paddle, taking all our water, wine, food, bedding, cameras, etc. Just the paddle to and around The Pinkertons was an adventure in itself and that's what I've recorded on this page. There'll be some pics of paddling the Broken Island Group later.
Lyn is the author of many charming and interesting books, her first and perhaps most well known being, "There's a Seal in my Sleeping Bag".

Canning River Canoe Club Changes - Richard King
The recent AGM saw Kim Bingham elected as President with Christian Thompson as the Secretary and Nicole Orton as the Treasurer. Paul Genovesi is the Vice President with Judith Thompson, Richard King and Phil Anning on the committee. Greg Kaeding is a life member. Bull Orton has resigned as President due to interstate work commitments. "We have kicked off a number of ideas to get CRCC active and growing again. The CRCC are still seeking a suitable available site, preferably on the Canning River. We are no longer using the Sea Scout Hall as our home but will instead be meeting on the Riverton foreshore between the two bridges. Our Tuesday nights will be the start of renewed activity. The CRCC has a long and colourful history. The committee is keen to revive interest in the club and keep the history alive!"
CRCC Club Race Nights - starting Tuesday, 5th December
Meet at the old Riverton Bridge (just downstream)
Registration: 5.30pm for 6pm start
Races around 7 km - race against your nominated time.

Circumnavigation of Australia
Local outdoor ed teacher, Sandy Robson, plans to circumnavigate Australia by sea kayak, starting soon, in December. She will set off from Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, and paddle in an anti-clockwise direction, hoping to average 200-250km per week so as to finish within one year. She has a network of people to support her: family, friends, sea kayak clubs and others, mostly in NSW and Victoria. Though it is intended to be largely solo, she welcomes anyone who would like to join her for a paddle for some of the time.
At this stage she is in need of assistance and contacts for Queensland, particularly in the north as well as the rest of our remote northern coastline. In addition, she would be grateful for the loan of charts for Qld from Bundaberg north and for around the top of Australia. If you can help out with charts or any kind of land support please contact her <mailto:email@example.com>firstname.lastname@example.org or 9291 3934 h or 0427 992 251. Maybe you know folk over that way who would be keen to get involved? Sandy is sponsored by Mainpeak Paddlesports and West Coast Kayaks.
A website on Sandy's trip will be online soon! Details to follow.
