White Water Park - It's Time for Action!

Public access to Logue Brook Dam has been restored.  Canoeing WA has put a proposal to Terry Waldron, Minister for Sport and Recreation, that the $10 million compensation Water Corporation provided as compensation for the loss of Logue Brook, be placed in a trust fund for a white water park. This would allow:

· - Water Corporation to honour its promise to replace the Harvey International Slalom Course which the community lost when they built the Harvey Dam.

· - The Government to implement its commitments.

A decision should be made this year.

Please email Minister Waldron, <mailto:Minister.Waldron@dpc.wa.gov.au>Minister.Waldron@dpc.wa.gov.au , expressing your support for Canoeing WA's proposal. Get your friends to email as well. Time is short so please email as soon as you can.

The case is detailed at
<http://www.whitewaterperth.org.au>www.whitewaterperth.org.au .

After a very long wait the opportunity is at last here, but we need to act fast!!!

Sea Kayak, Pittarak Expeditioner (with history)

The original version of Larry Gray's superb design. Build number 14 (now 1000+), built by Larry himself at Mallacoota VIC in 1989, it is a veteran of many ocean journeys, some of them epic including a Bass Strait crossing. With the right engine, could do it all again.

This was the first in W.A. and still one of only a handfull in the state. The cockpit floor has extra coremat reinforcing, so it is heavy (35kg +/- ) and very solid, bordering on bulletproof. Intended for the rough and tumble (literally) of extended ocean touring, this design is quite "tender" in a sea and works best when fully loaded and sitting low in the water. Load up to 180kg+ (including paddler) of supplies and equipment in this boat and go into the wilderness for weeks.

The Expeditioner was not designed with the novice in mind, but could extend the cabilities of a talented novice to the next level and far beyond. It is fully fitted out with screw-on hatches fore and aft, hand operated bilge pump, deck ropes and retractable foot operated rudder, but will need some superficial refurbishment.

I would ideally like to sell to someone who could to justice to this boat, it is not a plastic toy, and where it could take you is sometimes not a playground. I will throw in all my associated gear including 2 paddles (1 Powermaster , 1 split shaft spare), buoyancy vest, skirt, cag, parafoil and heaps of other stuff , so if you are ready to take the next step please call me. $=therightpricefortherightperson. ph. 0417 759 977.
