2003
Swan & Canning rivers algal bloom and fish kills: what happened?
why? from Robin Smith, WRC
Weather conditions in April - June, together with nutrient runoffs
from urban and rural areas of the Avon catchment resulted in
high levels of oxidised soluble nitrogen which favoured the growth
of algae, Karlodinium micrum, which is toxic to fish.
