Water Level - for Collie white water paddlers

My contact at SW Irrigation (which controls the water releases from Wellington Dam) tells me that they are looking into putting the water release info onto their website. I'll keep you in touch with the outcome.
Wildside Adventures
This is a new rafting/kayaking business which has some kayaking days at Collie coming up - 23rd-24th Feb - Day 1: flatwater skills, Day 2: intro to white water. Moore River
With the sand bar in place and still some flow from upstream there's plenty of water at the moment for a very pleasant (flatwater) paddle - suitable for the whole family. Guilderton has had some revamping with a new boardwalk in place (designed by a fellow paddler). There is canoe hire available at the general store. South West Canoe Club held The Healthways "BE ACTIVE" Have a Go weekend on 2/3rd Feb 2002 on the Collie River at Eaton foreshore. We encourage people to exercise 30 mins a day for health and fitness.

The Variety Club, which provides support for the Children's Hospital, will be present and will looking to raise more funds for their latest appeal. Please be generous.
There will be food stall available for a meal after the race, so bring down the family for the morning.
Toilets, showers, playground and Kiosk available at AKC.

Avon Descent Website
A new, whiz-bang, bells & whistles, latest & greatest, professionally designed site is on the way according to Avon Descent Co-ordinator, Deanne Jones. Up till now Merv Francis, dedicated Avon Descenter and his AAA Australia Shopping Mall have provided the website and kept it updated voluntarily. Don't forget to thank him next time you see him!  
Terry Bolland
has organised his Avon Descent Training Programme which starts at the end of March. He also has a "Canoe Week" coming up (end of March) with lots of workshops (including sea kayaking and down river paddling), demos and free lectures & info sessions PLUS he has become the agent for "Featherlight" which is a folding, easily transported & easily assembled kayak. The Avon Support Unit
is looking for volunteers to help with river rescue operations in the Avon Descent Race. People with whitewater experience are preferred though we will train volunteers in such skills as river rescue/recovery and team coordination as required. Volunteers must be competent swimmers and show a reasonable level of fitness. First aid and CPR experience is desirable but not essential. Slalom Stars' Fund Raising - Film Nite
Kirsten Maley (SCC) & Robbie Jeffery (AKC) are delighted to have been selected to represent Australia in Junior World Champs and World Cup races in Poland & Slovakia later this year. They're trying to raise the funds for their trip - so come along and help out as well as have a good night out:
