"I am desperately seeking a paddler to support me in my solo attempt at the 20km Rotto swim on Sat 23rd Feb and also for the 10 km Swanbourne to Trigg swim on Sun 3rd Feb. Sat 23 Feb. 2002. Mick from Brisbane is heading to Perth to attempt a solo channel crossing.
He has support boat and kayak but is looking for one or more paddlers to accompany him.
Lashings of COLD BEER guaranteed on Rotto - and possibly accommodation if I can scam it. 
If you would prefer to use your own ski/kayak I'll ensure its safe passage back to the mainland.

Lost & Found
Almost enough car parts to assemble a whole car- at Upper Swan Bridge during cleanup - thanks to enthusiastic members of AKC. Also lots of bottles & cans, a pumpkin and a few trailer loads of other junk. Now all can enjoy a cleaner river next winter. Well done to the organisers, especially Penny!

Perth White Water Park - from Colin Thorpe
I am gathering data and contact information about community groups who may use the Park so I can direct the market research consultants to them, and would welcome suggestions. I am seeking the name of the community organisation and a contact person and phone number.

In particular I am seeking the names and phone numbers (home if possible) of  teachers or others who are involved with canoeing or rafting in schools.

I would appreciate any suggestions within the next two weeks. Obviously the more potential users we can identify the better the prospect of the Park going ahead.

Bunbury Paddling Weekend - from Pres SWCC, Robyn Harris
The Bridge to Bridge Race (see if you can guess your time) is on again Sun 3rd feb at 0800.
Meet at Eaton Foreshore, eastern end of the Pratt Rd carpark. Paddle up the Collie River to the bypass bridge & return. (Short course as well)

Help is needed with registration, manual timing, orgainising certs.

The day before, Sat  2nd Feb  is the social paddle at 4pm, (meet at Eaton Foreshore, eastern end of the Pratt Rd carpark) followed by the BBQ,
Volunteers to help with the BBQ???????? would be appreciated.

Swan Canoe Club - kayaking for juniors
Wednesdays 5.00pm to 6.15pm
Ages 12 to 16 - classes run during school term. The first class for 2002 will be Wed 6th February.
Juniors will be instructed in basic strokes and safety on the water to a level of competency, to enable them to gain their basic skills award certificate.
Juniors that have completed their basic skills and passed their assessment will be instructed in advanced strokes and encouraged to take part in a training program to improve their skills and fitness.

Cost per term $20.00 club members $30.00 non members (must be able to swim). Numbers are limited.

Week 4/ 30th January
News of intrepid sea kayakers via Terry Bolland
"Our 800km paddle from Perth to Shark Bay finished with a 170 km paddle along the Zuytdorp Cliffs from Kalbarri to Steep Point, in 30 knot winds, taking 30 hours. It turned out being an epic journey - more later. This section has only been paddled once before by the great Paul Caffyn on his around Australia paddle 20 years ago."
