Attention
all Down River Paddlers!
Your Wildwater AGM will
be held 6:30pm, Monday, 17th March, at Ascot Inn
Your current committee has been busy working over summer towards
making the Winter Series better.
New News: - the Avon Support Unit will be running cover
for our races. Also, we have been actively campaigning for the
National titles this year and feel confident that this may be
a goer but we need to discuss this at the AGM.
Issues about involvement with the Avon Descent are also to be
discussed. A great year is planned.
All are welcome at the AGM
Wildwater paddling is sponsored by Terry Bolland of Canoeing

From
Huw Kingston in NSW - Help Needed
"As you all know, I'm setting off on 9th April from Perth
en route to Darwin on my paddling/walking/mountain biking fundraising
journey (see <http://www.polarismtb.com.au/4w4s/perth2darwin>www.polarismtb.com.au/4w4s/perth2darwin)
I'm arriving in Perth on 5th April. The first few stages see
me paddling from Perth to Cervantes (9-14 April) then riding
from Cervantes to Tamala (southern end of Shark Bay) where I
plan to paddle again up to Carnarvon.
A friend who was doing the gear shuffling for the first few legs
has injured himself and whilst he can organize to pick up the
kayak from Cervantes will be unable to get it to Tamala on or
before 21/4 (Easter Monday). Is there anyone who can help out?
I'm happy to pay fuel etc. Please contact <mailto:huw@polarismtb.com.au>huw@polarismtb.com.au

"A
Tourist in My Own Town"
Ex-patriot Perth author and travel/adventure writer, Lyn Hancock,
for many years now resident in Canada, has an article about paddling
and the charms of our local waters which I believe should appear
in The West Australian, travel section, on April
5. She is an avid sea kayaker in west coast Canada (amongst
other things - you should read her books! - eg. There's a
Seal in My Sleeping Bag). Returning after many years' absence
she views her home town water playgrounds through different (often
humorous) eyes.
