from Finn Kayaks
Our local entrepreneurial kayak manufacturer, Alwyn, has now
come up with a sea kayak.
What you will want to know:- fibreglass, 5.1m long, adjustable
footrests, front hatch, day hatch and large oval hatch, bulkheaded
behind seat. It retails at around $1600 and is available from
Finn stockists. There will be a double version available within
a few weeks.
Members of the Sea Kayak Club were surprised by four navy ships
AND a submarine speeding south whilst the paddlers were en route
to Rottnest on Friday morning. Not being sure if they were friend
or foe the paddlers decided to hide behind the 2m swells and
white caps until the flotilla had passed.

Those paddling Riot boats did very well at the recent Oz team
selection for the Australian Freestyle team to compete in the
Pre Worlds 2004 at Penrith White Water Stadium. Rob Parker (
paddling an Air 55) in an awesome and very consistent display
of Freestyle paddling totally dominated winning the Men's K1
events on both days. Robin Bell, paddling a Riot Tekno,
won the Saturday Men's C1 event in a very strong field. Ali "Loop
de Loop" Parker, paddled a Riot Air 45 and came third on
both days. Anita Cowley also paddling a Riot Air 45, won the
Junior Women's K1 and once again will be representing Australia
at the Pre Worlds. (Riot boats are available in WA from Tom
Suffling, 9259 0749).
