The Ideal Craft
Ex-patriot Perth writer now resident in Canada, Lyn Hancock, sends us a <http://www.iinet.net.au/~rokhor/canoe/idealcraft.html>humorous story about the watery paradise discovered in her backyard on Vancouver Island, once she dusted off the sea kayak and learnt to paddle.

*OR a 4 kilometre course for recreational and novice paddlers, malibu boards and schools.

Week 4/November
Bremer Bay & Environs

A long drive but it takes you right to the doorstep of Fitzgerald River National Park. There's several rivers with estuaries and lower reaches (Pallinup, Bremer, Gairdner and Hammersley) to paddle and they're full of fish. There's some new info and pics on my website about the Bremer and Gairdner rivers <http://www.iinet.net.au/~rokhor/canoe/bremerbay.html>here. The ocean and spectacular coastal scenery also beckons, but that's another story.

Historic Quaalup Homestead is a most interesting place to stay, located right near the Gairdner River in the middle of the national park with all its scenic attractions. The property has a range of modern accomodation: a chalet, cabins, self contained units as well as camping. Their website, http://www.whalesandwildflowers.com.au will be online in a few weeks, but in the meantime you can contact them <mailto:richelmann@web.de>richelmann@web.de or (08) 9837 4124.
