| Week 3/October Stolen - keep your eye out for this one . . . Either ring the police or contact Pam Riordan 9378 2523 or 0408 909 897 if you think you have spotted this canoe: Red Coleman Ram-X 2 person Canadian canoe. When stolen had the words "HIRE" and the numbers TC1377 on the side. Inside the boat it has "Licensed to carry 2 persons" stencilled on which will be difficult to remove. There are not many of these canoes around. ^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^- Blackwood Marathon: Paddlers Take Note - from Marty Wallace The low wooden bridge just before the end has changed and it is no longer possible to go under it - you will definitely have to portage. It is now made up of about 6 hollow concrete cubes. They are placed adjacent to each other and the hollow bit is about 0.5 metre across. The water level is about 6 inches from the top of the hollow and is flowing at a fast rate. If you got within about 6 metres the flow would draw you in. It's just around a small corner so if you don't know it's there it could be very dangerous. I assume the organisers will have a rope or something set up there. ^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^- Eskimo Rolling Learn this useful skill or brush up your old skills in the warmer months coming up. Thursday nights, Belmont Pool, which is indoor and heated. Cost is pool entry + share of pool hire - just a few dollars. There's always someone to help - phone Dennis (he makes it look so easy) for more info' - 9342 0305 h or 0419 959 048. ^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^- Warren River for recreational paddlers I have added to the website some notes, a map and pictures on the Warren River, near Pemberton- Northcliffe. Despite logs and blackberries, there are some very scenic paddles, though some sections are either too troublesome or outright dangerous. Click on "Where to paddle" <http://members.iinet.net.au/~rokhor/canoe>here. There's also an <http://www.iinet.net.au/~rokhor/canoe/warrivstory.html>amusing story by Tony Henshaw of a paddle on the white water section. The place to stay is Watermark Kilns, dorm style accomodation, conveniently located ( for paddlers, walkers or cyclists), modern and very practical (renovated tobacco drying kilns!). Contact Trevor or Jeanette for details <mailto:hulcup@westnet.com.au>hulcup@westnet.com.au They will help with car shuffles for canoeists and they're experts on the roads in the area! ^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^- Sunset-Moonlight Social Paddle Saturday, 9th November, 5.00 p.m. - 8.30 p.m, byo drinks and nibbles.
