This is easy flat water paddling in quiet sheltered waters with much birdlife, wooded banks and the occasional small sandy beach. If putting in at Lakes Road Bridge it is a challenge to find the deeper water channels in Lake Goegrup, best paddled when the water is high with big tides or after winter rains.
Otherwise put in at Riverside Gardens where there is a boat ramp, car park, picnic tables, barbeques, shady grassed areas and a riverside walk trail.
Paddle downstream to where the Serpentine meets the mouth of the Murray River. Explore historic Cooper's Mill. Take any of the channels towards the Murray River.
