Casting Repairs
Casting repairs can save our clients considerable time and money as an alternative to ordering a totally new component. Below are some examples of our work.
The
large, cast iron gearbox case on the right had severe housing damage due to the
failure of the output shaft. The
repairs done by Rolliston Engineering put the gearbox back into operation in a
relatively short time and saved the client over $20,000. The cost of a new gearbox
housing.
This
large cast iron diesel engine block (out of a tractor) was brought to us when a
'con-rod' failed and was pushed through the block. The photograph was taken during the repair.
This repair not only saved the client money but, as a replacement was not
available in Australia, the entire tractor.
The
single piece gear casting on the right was brought in with a damaged hub, the
gear teeth were still in good condition. Rolliston Engineering was able to weld
and machine the hub back to its original condition, again saving the client time and
money.
This
alloy V6 engine block had been corroded in one corner of each bank, which
normally would have resulted in the scrapping of the block. The block was welded and
the bore was machined for a new sleeve insert. The repairs were carried out at
less than half the replacement cost.
