Q) What about
the weather?
A) Rain
clouds move around in cells, and when you’re flying you can
see columns of water pouring down here and there. It’s no
problem for aircraft as we can simply fly around the rain.
The way a helicopter is constructed protects the
passengers from turbulence. Because the rotors are free to move
in relation to the hull, the hull hardly moves when the wind is
gusty. As opposed to an aeroplane where the passenger compartment
is strapped to the wing and whenever the wing bounces you do to.
There are advantages to taking photographs with
and without cloud. Without cloud you get very bright images and
blue skies. With cloud it adds a lot of depth and feel to your images.
If you can’t see the top of the Bank West
tower for cloud, then we won’t be flying and will contact
you in good time using the details you give us at the time of booking
to advise and reschedule your flight.
We want you to have the best experience possible
with us, and although winter brings inclement weather, don’t
be concerned, as the city, river and beaches are just as beautiful
by winter as they are by summer.

Q) Why fly in a
helicopter?
A) Helicopters are
much smoother than light aeroplanes. Large windows with no wings
to block your view. We fly lower and slower than light aircraft
so your camera lens is filled with spectacular scenery you have
paid to see.
Q)
Are helicopters safe?
A)
Absolutely! Helicopters are very safe. Helicopters are used in challenging
rescue operations, fire fighting and air ambulance services because
of their ability to penetrate inaccessible areas. We operate Bell
Jetrangers which are known as the world’s safest helicopter.
Q)
What happens when I book a tour and the weather changes?
A)
Heli West is here to provide you with an air touring experience.
We will contact you if the weather is unsuitable for flying. Helicopters
are a lot smoother than aeroplanes to fly in windy conditions.
