PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: Kumar Shri Dadaji, the founder of the Kotharia State, a Fifth Class Princely State in Kathiawad Province (now Saurashtra), and second son of Thakore Saheb Mehramanji II of Rajkot, was granted a patrimony of six villages in about 1733. The Taluka consists of six villages - Kotharia, Vavdi, Vagudad, Khorana, Nagalpur and Pipalia. Jurisdictional rights were: (a) Criminal :- Two years, rigorous imprisonment and fines up to Rs. 2000, (b) Civil :- To the extent of Rs 5000. The rule of primogeniture governs succession. Thakore Sahib DADAJI MEHRAMANJI, 1st Thakore Sahib of Kotharia, he was granted 6 villages for his maintenance about 1733, shortly after was granted two further villages of Vadadi and Virva by his brother, the Thakore Saheb of Rajkot; Ronki and Karipat villages were added at a later date, married and had issue.
