PRESENT RULER: Rana ARUN CHAND, present Rana of Kuthar since September 1956 (The Palace, Kuthar, Via Subathu, District Solan, H.P., India)
born 8th January 1949 in Junga as Rajkumar Arun Sen of Keonthal, declared heir to the throne of Kuthar in September 1956, married Rani Sahiba Nirmala Devi, born 11th August 1951, daughter of Kanwar Chattar Singh of Kalonta in Jubbal, and his wife, Kanwarani Murtoo Devi, and has surviving issue. 
  • Tikka Siddharth Chand, Tikka Sahib of Kuthar 1975/1987, born 1975, educated at the Lawrence School, Sanawar, District Solan, he died in an automobile accident 11th December 1987.
  • Rajkumari (name unknown) Sahiba, died at the age of four months.
  • Rajkumari Arunima Kumari [HH Rani Arunima Kumari of Sitamau], born 26th March 1980 at The Lady Reading Hospital in Simla, married in February 2002 at New Delhi, Yuvraj Puranjay Sinh, now HH Raja Puranjay Sinh, Raja Saheb of Sitamau, and has issue, two sons.
  • Tikka Akansh Chand, Tikka Sahib of Kuthar 1989/2017, born 20th September 1989 at The Lady Reading Hospital in Simla, educated at the Pine Grove School, Kasauli, District Solan, he died 10th February 2017 (#2).
PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The state was founded before 1700 by Rana Surat Chand who came from Kashmir. The state officially lapsed in 1956, as the adoption of Rajkumar Arun Sen of Keonthal was not recognized by the Government of India. The Rana maintains a military force of 40 infantry (as of 1892).   • Rana SAMAR CHAND, Rana of Kuthar 1776/1791, succeeded to the throne in 1776, married and had issue, one son. He died 1791.

  • Rana GOPAL CHAND, Rana of Kuthar 1791/1803 and 1815/1824, he succeeded to the throne in 1791,  during his reign, Kuthar was overrun by the Gurkhas of Nepal and after their expulsion by the British, the state was confirmed to the Rana by a sanad dated 3rd September 1815; married and had issue, three sons. He died 1824.

    • Rajkumari (name unknown), married Rana Bishen Chand, Rana of Koti, and had issue.
  • Rana JAI CHAND, Rana of Kuthar 1858/1895, born 1845 (1840), he succeeded to the gadi as a minor on 27th December 1858 (#1), married and had issue, one son. He died 1895.

  • Rana JAGJIT CHAND, Rana of Kuthar 1896/1930 (abdicated), born 1886, succeeded to the throne in 1895, and was installed on 19th April 1896; educated at Aitchison Chiefs' College, Lahore; married (amongst others) (a), a daughter of Rana Tegh Singh, Rana of Kunihar, and had issue, two sons. He died 19th November 1930.

  • Rana KRISHEN CHAND, Rana of Kuthar 1930/1956, born 23rd August 1905, succeeded to the throne on his father's abdication in early 1930, educated at Aitchison Chiefs' College, Lahore, married 1926, Raj Kumari Krishna Devi of Doodrej, died in 1986, daughter of the Rana Sahib of Dudrej in Kathiawar, Gujarat, and had issue, seven children. He died 1956.
    • Rajkumari Shanta Devi [Rani Shanta Devi of Keonthal], born 26th May 1928 in Kuthar, married April 1944 (as his first wife), Raja Hitendra Sen of Keonthal, and had issue, four children. She died 16th July 1960 in Simla.
      • Rajkumar Arun Sen, born 8th January 1949 in Junga, declared heir to the throne of Kuthar in September 1956, succeded his maternal grandfather as Rana Arun Chand of Kuthar (qv).
    • Rajkumari Indu Devi, born 1929, married Tikka Prakash Chand, son of Raja Kidar Chand of Chenani in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, born in 1920, and has issue, two sons and three daughters.
    • Rajkumari Brinda Devi, married Mandaleshwar Shriman Lal Brajendra Narayan Singh Deo of Jarasingha in Orissa, and had issue, one son.
    • Rajkumari Sita Devi, married Sukhdev Singh, son of Colonel Baldev Singh of Jammu and Kashmir, and has issue, two sons and three daughters.
    • Rajkumari Amba Devi, married to Kanwar Ram Pratap Singh of Rajgarh State in Madhya Pradesh, and has issue, four children.
