PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The village of Malpur in the Aravalli district of Gujarat was founded in 1466 as an off-shoot of the Raos of Idar.The Raols of Malpur ranked first of the Third Class of Mahi Kantha chiefs and follow the rule of primogeniture. The state is bounded on the North and East by the Idar State, on the South by the Talukas of Magodi and Gabat and the States of Lunawada, Balasinor and Idar and on the West by the Idar State and the Taluka of Modasa in the Ahmedabad Collectorate. The State pays annually Rs. 430-3-5 to the British Government as tribute, Rs. 256-15-10 to the Baroda State as Ghasdana and Rs. 370 to the Idar State as Khichdi (#3 p.389). Rulers were...

  • Raolji Shri JASWANTSINHJI DIPSINHJI, 18th Raol of Malpur 1914/1923, born 18th August 1886 or 1893, married a daughter of Thakur Ratan Singh of Bansiya. He died 1923.

  • Raolji Shri GAMBHIRSINHJI HIMMATSINHJI, 19th Raol of Malpur 1923/1969, born 27th October 1914 (#4 p.361) and succeeded 23rd June 1923 (#2) (#4 p.356), educated at Scott College, Sadra and Mayo College, Ajmer, invested with full ruling powers in February 1935 (#4 p.360); married Baisa Nand Kanwar, eldest daughter of Raja Pratap Singh, 13th Raja of Khandela-Senior 1935/1943, and his only wife, Rani Rukam Kanwar. He died sp in 1969.
