born 1956, married Rani Saheba Shruti Kumari, eldest daughter of Maharaja Bahadur Pratap Singhji of Gidhaur, and his wife, Maharani Pratibha Manjari Devi, daughter of HH Maharaja Sir Shri Pratap Chandra Bhanj Deo of Mayurbhanj, and has issue, two daughters. PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The predecessor state of Manikpur was founded in 1180, by Raja Manik Chand, brother of Raja Jai Chand of Kannauj. After the fall of Kannauj, the Gaharwars moved eastwards towards Benares, where they settled for fifteen generations. The estate in 1909, comprised 207 villages and 45 pattis in the Meja tahsil, with a revenue demand of Rs 85,854, plus 67 shares in Phulpur with a revenue demand of Rs 8,721, plus a smaller estate in Karchana and one village and one patti in Mirazapur district.
