PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The state was founded in 1794 by Sahibzada Haidar Muhammad Khan, a Pathan of the Barakzai family and great grandson of Nawab Dost Muhammed Khan of Bhopal, the latter of whom formerly held villages in the district of Rahatgarh, and who was deprived of them by Maharaja Scindia 1806, but the estate comprising only Pathari, was subsequently restored to Hyder Mohd Khan by the mediation of the British Government.
