PRESENT RULER: Lt. Thakore Shri JAIDEVSINHJI JASWANTSINHJI, 17th and present Thakore Saheb of Ranasan since 1964.
born 1st April 1940, educated at Rajkumar College, Rajkot (1957), married the daughter of Lt. Rajkumar Shambhu Singhji Jhala of Dhrangadhra, and his wife, Thakurani Shri Jhalaji, and had issue, three sons.
  • Lt. Kumar Shri Harshvadansinhji Jaidevsinhji, educated at Rajkumar College, Rajkot (1973). He died unmarried in 1999, aged 35.

PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The Thakores of Ranasan, taking rank in the Fourth Class, are Rehvar Rajputs of the Indra race, and are descended from the former Raos of Chandrawati near Mount Abu. Early in the 13th century (1227), their ancestor, Rao Jaspal, moved from Chandrawati to Hadol in the Mahi Kantha, and from that in the thirteenth generation, Thakore Prithiraj moved to Ghodvada which he had received in grant. The Thakore Sahebs of Ranasan are tributary chiefs, paying to the Gaekwad ruler, Rs 373-6-2 as ghasdana, to the Maharaja of Idar, Rs 749-8-8 as khichdi and to the British Government, Rs 3-7-1 as salami. The judicial powers of the Chief are:- Civil - Suits up to Rs2,500 and Criminal - one year's rigorous imprisonment and Rs500 fine. He died 14th August 1964.
