born 6th October 1969 in Kota Bharu, Tengku Mahkota Kelantan; due to his fathers stroke, he succeeded to the throne according to the Constitution of the State of Kelantan Darul Naim.
Predecessors and Short History: Founded around 1418, when Raja Kumar, the ruler of Kelantan became independent of Siam. It became an important centre of trade by the end of the 15th century when Kelantan became a vassal state of the Malacca Sultanate. When the Sultanate fell in 1511, Kelantan was divided up into petty chiefdoms, all generally paying tribute to Patani, the supreme Malay Kingdom of the eastern peninsula. This situation continued till about 1760 when Long Yunus, succeeded in unifying the territory of present-day Kelantan and was enthroned by his father-in-law, Ku Tanang Wangsa, Regent of Terengganu as the Yang di-Pertuan Muda or Deputy Ruler of Kelantan. Negeri Kelantan Darul Naim was established in 1911. During the Japanese occupation from 8th December 1941, Kelantan came again under control of Siam, but after the defeat of Japan in August 1945, Kelantan reverted to British rule, and became part of the Federation of Malaya on 1st February 1948, and together with other Malayan states, attained independence on 31st August 1957. Kelantan became one of the states of Malaysia on 16th September 1963. Rulers were...
