PRESENT RULER: HM Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma, Omusinga of Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu 1966/1982 and since 2009.
born 1953, he succeeded his father on his death in 1966, but was forced to abdicate on 15th August 1982, after which he travelled to America and enrolled in business school in 1984, he obtained political asylum in the United States in 1987, and received nurse's aide training, later finding work in a nursing home near Washington, D.C.; he returned to Uganda after Rwenzururu was recognized as a Kingdom by the Ugandan Government and was crowned 19th October 2009; married 2ndly, 20th October 2007, Nyabawori Agnes Itungi [HRH Queen Agnes Asimawe Mumbere], and has issue.

PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The Kingdom of Rwenzururu (Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu) was a short-lived kingdom in the 20th century located in the Rwenzori Mountains between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. On 13th February 1963 the Bakonjo-Baamba people of Kasese and Bundibugyo districts from the Rwenzori mountains declared independence from the Toro Kingdom. On 15th August 1982 the government of Uganda forced the king of Rwenzururu to abdicate and annulled the Rwenzururu declaration of independence.
