The players are assigned by the Coalition to travel to and survey the planet Drakar, an major imperial industrial world before the collapse. The small remaining population of Drakar have moved underground into the labyrinth of refining facilities, smelters and manufacture plants. Amongst these catacombs several groups of people fight over the meagre resources of the planet left since power has been removed from the once massive operations on the planet.
The players are captured by the Lurkers, a group interested only in weapons and technology that will give them the edge in their fight against the other groups. After escaping the Lurkers, the players will find their ship gone and the Lurkers in pursuit.
However, the players meet another group led by the charismatic Tara Ren. Ren and her group are more interested in reuniting the people of Drakar and working to reactivat the technology of the planet. She agrees to assist the players find their ship if they can help her locate and activate the main reactor core for planet.
In the background, all these events are being watched by the sinister robot X'rel who has been manipulating the groups so none gain acendency. Seeing the players may tip the blance in favour of Ren's group, X'rel has hatched his plan to ensure that anarchy reigns.
A thin, dirty weasel of a man who rules the Lurkers with cunning and deceipt. His eliminates opposition with treachery and manipulation. Gregor constantly searches for technology and weapons that will assist him to crush other groups on the planet, particularly Tara Ren's.
Tara Ren remembers well the stories passed down from her grandparents about the heady days of the Third Imperium, which infuse her with a keen desire to somehow rectify the events following the collapse. Frustated by a lack of knowledge about technology and the petty squabbling between Drakar's groups the players will be seen as an opportunity to reunite and reactivate this world.
Originally a service droid overseeing the offices of the Drakar's Governor, X'rel was infected by the virus at the time of the collapse. Like many robots this has in essence sent him insane and now he is obsessed with the power games he plays using the warring groups on Drakar. Unbalanced, manipulative and very dangerous he will stop at nothing to stop the players and X'rel has considerable tools at his disposal to achieve these means.
The players should be able to locate a communications tower or docking tower through which they can can access to the underground. There will be no available power so players will have to somehow repower doors or cut their way in. Shortly after beginning their exploration they will attacked by 12 Lurkers. The Lurkers should win this fight and capture the players with their gas grenades.
The players will now have an opportunity to meet Gregor and gain some inkling of the situation on Drakar. They will also quickly realize that Gregor does not represent a potential ally and escape plans should be made. To assist the players will Lurkers will be distracted by a hit and run attack by Tara Ren's forces. If they see the players, Ren's people will assit the player's to escape.
Now, the players will have an oppotunity to interact with Ren and her group. Sensing the players are potential allies, she will relate her request to the group and offer any necessary assistance. At some stage robot troops will attack Ren's people forcing them to flee.
The players are going to have to use their technical skills to access a map of the sector to find the reactor. As a result of the destruction caused at the time of the collapse access to the reactor will be difficult, often requiring squeezing through tight crawlways and climbing down now inaccesible reactor pits. The players will be harried with newly equipped Lurkers whilst they travell to the reactor core.
