Review
Trevor Jones has written some notable scores including Gulliver's Travels, The Last of the Mohicans and Merlin. Labyrinth is one of his earlier scores, and is dominated by the songs provided by David Bowie. Though it is an excellent children's film (they always seem to get the great fantasy films, such as The Dark Crystal also scored by Jones) the music is quirky and fun (as it should be). It's not one of his "serious" scores, instead it is a collection of fun songs and fun music. There is too much rock/pop influence in the score to make it a serious contender for your interest unless you want to have your fantasy music with a rock edge (eg. Krull or Ladyhawke). Try Merlin instead.
