Notes on F3Score32

  1. As the few people using this program for F3B would have noticed the F3B allocation module that allows independant allocation of Tasks A,B and C was not working properly.  It would not allocate pilots to slots that even when there were no conflicts.  This has hopefully been fixed in 4.181
  2. Version 4.18 has a change to the adding scores routine.  It may cause problems with competitions that have been shortened because the planned number of rounds have not been flown (See Point 3).  If you shortened the contest in Version 4.171 or below the scores for the rounds deleted remain in the database and cause a problem with 4.18.  The solution is to use MS Access to increase the number of rounds back to the original and then shorten again in 4.18.  The new version deletes the scores from the database.
  3. 4.18 has a fix for the F3B printing routine and you can now move pilots in F3B.  Important Note - Is is extremely important to change the number of rounds in a contest to the exact number that have been flown. ie: if you originally setup 7 rounds and then fly only six you must go to TOOLS - Change Current Contest details and change the number of rounds to 6 from 7.  This is because the 7th round will contain all 0 scores and will automatically be thrown out leading to incorrect final scores
  4. 4.171 has a bug fix for the F3B module - it did not work at all.
  5. 4.17 has the new update for re-flying rounds
  6. Important Note 2: This release (4.16) includes a modified database.  If you want to store F3J flight scores to 1 decimal place then it will be necessary to copy this empty database.  If you have data that you want to keep then send your database to me and I will change it for you.  DO NOT Copy this empty database over your database if you want to keep your data.
  7. Important Note 3: The designation of the Australian Open has been changed to AustOpen from 8-11.  This means that any 8-11 contests you have in your databases will not be recognised.  If these are needed then you can send the databases to me and I can change them for you.

  8. The F3J Flyoff now drops a round after 4 flyoff rounds as specified in the rules.
  9. The F3J flight score is now stored and displayed to 1 decimal place.  The database has to be changed to do this.  If you have MSAccess 97 then you can open the database and change the flight_score field of the scores table to number - single from the number - long integer.  If you can not do this I can modify your databases.  If you do not change the database then the program will work OK but will not store the scores to 1 decimal place.  F3B is unchanged as it does not require this.
  10. I have changed the way F3Score subtracts 100 point safety penalties.  These should be subtracted at the end of the contest from the final score and do not affect the normalised score in a round.  The F3J and Austopen modules now have an F-Penalty and an S-Penalty.  You cannot maually add penalties in the F-Penalty section.  AustOpen and F3B will not now display a F-Penalty as no penalty is awarded if the max time is exceeded.  F3J awards a 30 point penalty for this.
  11. There is now an extensive CSV export facility.  Both the full leaderboard and the Scores for all the rounds are exportable to CSV file which can be opened with a spreadsheet.  This gives access to all the scores for verification.
  12. You must change to Max in Aust Open to 10 Minutes and then update the INI file.  It probably be a good idea to then close the program and then open it again.  When you first open the program after update 4.13 the Max for Australian open will be 0 or missing.
  13. You must change the discard round to 6 after downloading update 4.13.  Failure to do this will result in contest with more that 5 round being scored incorrectly. To do this go to user preference under the tool menu item.  Go to the general tab and change the Discard round to 6.  For Australian Open if there are 12 rounds it will automatically drop 2 rounds.
  14. I have changed the menus in Version 4.13.  There is now in Tools a menu item to "Change Current Contest Details".  This is to sort out the discarded round problem.   The problem is this:At the start of a contest you might allocate say 7 rounds and only fly 6.  The program, if you leave the Contest's number of rounds at 7, wil happily discard all the 0  scores of the unflown round 7 and the final result will be wrong.  I have made it easier to change the number of rounds in a contest to reflect the actual number of rounds flown.  Just select Tools -Change Current Contest and decrease the number of rounds to the actual number flown and the discarded round will now be correct.  You cannot increase the number of rounds this way because you would need to do another allocation.
  15. The program now does Australian Open Duration properly.  As there were rule changes I had to modify the program slightly to conform.  Also there now appears under help a link to the new rules.
  16. I have made significant changes in many modules resulting in a much better program. The 32 bit version is the current version and the 16 bit version will be phased out. I do not have the tools anymore to update the older version. There is now an allocation module that allows independent allocations of the 3 tasks in F3B. It is available under F3B section of the menu when an F3B contest is selected.
  17. I have ported the 16 bit version to 32 bit.  It is a rough port and I have not changed or improved anything.  Hopefully the 32 bit version, written in VB5, will work better on Windows 2000 etc.  The databases are in Access 97.  If you have this version then you can convert your old databases to the new version.  Just be sure not to overwrite the old ones.
