For years I've used a spreadsheet to keep track of my accounts, and I've generated the occasional invoice using a wordprocessor.
if you find it useful.
It works fine, but it doesn't scale very well. I generate new invoices by copying an old one and changing the details, and inevitably I forget to change the invoice number, or the amount, or the customer's name. It's also hard to keep track of outstanding debts. (I move paid invoices into another folder.) Finally, when it comes to tax time it can be real fun opening & closing endless invoice files to make sure I've included all sales & payments in my return.
So, I decided to write a simple accounting program which would handle most of the work. With Spacejock Accounts you can add customers, suppliers and (optionally), stock items and ledger records. You can raise invoices, enter receipts and payments and mark invoices as paid or not.
