Brian Copping

Jazz and Contemporary Guitar

This position was created to cater the growth in demand for support in the area of jazz performance in instrumental music and expanded in 2008 to include contemporary guitar.

Brian has extensive experience in this area and recently served for six years as Australian Board Representative for the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE).

Brian's role is to:

• Liase with the Principal of the School of Instrumental Music on all aspects of jazz and contemporary guitar education.
• Provide and coordinate professional development in jazz and contemporary guitar education to staff members.
• Centralise and augment SIM's jazz and contemporary guitar resources so that they are available to all staff.
• Liase with professional bodies and industry on festivals, visiting performers and educators and other matters of mutual interest.
