Instrumental Loan Charge
Parents
- The instrumental charge for the loan of a Departmentally owned instrument is $100 per year.
- This charge covers depreciation, routine maintenance and repair of the instrument, which must be brought to SIM's premises for repair.
- Parents pay this amount to the school on receipt of the instrument and the signing of a loan agreement (downloadable from this website)
- The conditions of the loan should be carefully read and understood.
- Parents of beginning students will be asked to purchase a music stand, tutor book and necessary accessories (reeds, strings, rosin etc).
- Schools may also set a small charge for other costs associated with instrumental music. This will be set by the school council and is independent of the instrumental loan charge and SIM.
Schools
- Schools will forward money collected from parents (plus reclaimable GST) on receipt of a tax invoice from Financial Services Branch of the Department of Education. This is generally issued towards the end of Term 1.
- Schools will be notified of the final date for return of unwanted instruments without charge at the beginning of the school year. This information will also be on the SIM website.
