ABOUT
ME
Let me tell you a little about myself. My name is
Trish and I live with my family in the southern suburbs of Perth, the beautiful
capital city of Western Australia. I am 5 feet 8 inches tall, have naturally
dark brown hair and eyes, although I now have the top half of my hair blonde to
allow for the odd 'blonde moment' that we gals occasionally have. In days gone
by I was more streamlined but, having reached middle age, I have decided that
"what you see is what you get" and am now quite comfortably 'cuddly'.
I was born in Mestre, Northern Italy after World War Two, to an
English father and Scottish mother. My father was serving with the Royal
Artillery in Italy, and my mother was given the option to go out and join him
so,
having spent much of the first few years of their marriage apart, she accepted
with alacrity and I was the
result of their happy reunion!
I was only a few months old when we returned to
England. My father was demobbed shortly after our return and took up life in
civvy street. He was later called up to go and fight again in Korea, where he was
killed in February 1951 at age 29. I spent my early years living in Hampshire
and
Essex in England and Roxburghshire in Scotland, before returning to live in Essex with my
mother and new dad some 4 months after their marriage. I had a happy childhood
and my new dad was every bit as good a dad to me as
any real father could have been.
I met my husband Roger in England in the
autumn of 1979, we married in May 1980
and we had our first daughter, Lauren Amanda, in June 1981 . We emigrated to
Australia in November, 1981 and our second daughter Renee-Claire was born
here in Perth in January,
1985. As we had already fallen
in love with Australia, it's people and lifestyle we had applied to be naturalised and
we became
Australian Citizens in the June of 1985.
We have never for a single moment regretted our
decision to emigrate to this wonderful country, and although we both still have
family and friends back in the United Kingdom, Australia
is home for us and always will be.
Perth is, to my mind, the most beautiful of all
the capital cities in Australia and I feel so lucky that we chose to come here when we emigrated from England - here
are some
photographs of our lovely city shown below - with more to see on my Pictorial
page.

The people of Western Australia, and those from
other Australian states whose
acquaintance I have made, are the warmest, most
welcoming and wonderful people and I would not hesitate
to recommend this country to anyone thinking of taking the plunge and emigrating
here, although I will warn you - Australians do not like
"whingers" (people who continually
moan about things and compare Australia unfavourably with the country
they came from) or "Tall Poppies" (those folks who have
become very successful and perhaps think a little too highly of themselves), and will quickly bring them down to earth, but offer an Australian
your genuine friendship and it will be returned with interest.
