What is Roller Derby?

Roller derby is a team sport played on roller skates, in which each team attempts to score points by having one key member pass members of the other team. It is a fast and physical game played in a circuit, either at a rink or a suitable sports centre.

Each team has five members, the "jammer" with the task of passing the other team, plus three "blockers" and one "pivot" who attempt to prevent the other team's jammer from passing.

There are strict rules on how an opponent can be blocked. There are tough penalties for breaking the rules.
