About Us

Sports Medicine Australia is Australia's peak national umbrella body for sports medicine and sports science and is widely acknowledged overseas as the worlds leading multi-disciplinary sports medicine body.

Sport Coverage

In the Northern Territory Sports Medicine has a role to play in the training and provision of Sports Trainers. Sports Trainers provide their services on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to sports across the Territory. They also provide Sports Medicine coverage services to peak sporting events such as the Masters Games, Arafura Games, AFL Games, V8 Motor Racing etc.

Training

Sports Medicine Australia NT provides training for current members and members of the sporting and recreational public. Training is in a wide range of areas including Level One and Level Two Sports Trainers, Podiatry, Stretching and Flexibility, Over-training, Nutrition etc. For more information on training refer to the Calendar of Events.

STRONG Indigenous Safer Sport Program

Sports Medicine Australia NT deliver a purpose written Indigenous Sports Program in the urban and rural areas of the Territory. The STRONG program involves 8 hours of theory and practical instruction and makes use of pictures and props in an effort to engage Indigenous participants.

School Based Training

Sports Medicine Australia NT has a range of programs, which can be delivered, to schools across the NT. Education sessions in the area of basic anatomy, introductory sports injury management, taping, hydration and RICER principles are all popular areas of study.
