2003 Marlows Classic Car ShowSunday 16 March 2003 |
There were over 1000 vehicles of all shapes and sizes on display at this year's Marlows Classic Car Show. Held at Whiteman Park, approximately 18 kms north east of the Perth CBD, this was the 10th year that Marlows had sponsored the event. Whiteman Park covers an area of over 9000 acres of parkland, containing picnic and barbeque areas, a heritage train and tram line, a craft village and the WA Motor Museum. Entry to the park is free although entry to the Marlows Classic Car Show was $10.
Each club participating in the event was allocated an area to display their cars in the parklands surrounding the craft village where the main attractions were based. These included five different bands covering songs from Tom Jones, Cliff Richard, Elvis and the Beatles. The live music really helped set the atmosphere for the event by playing songs from eras in which so many of the cars on display were made. The food vans and cafes in the village were doing a roaring trade, as was the bouncy castle and the pool with the kids.

The catch cry, "theres something for everyone" certainly rang true at this event. The theme of this year's show was Aussie Workhorses, featuring trucks and utes from yesteryear which have helped shape our country.

... from big ...

... to small ...

... from beautiful ...

... to (ahem) different ...

and just plain weird.
