You know there are some tough six pot cars out there, just take a look at the current XR6 and F6 Typhoon from Ford and FPV. But for some, like Mumbo Member Tim, 6 cylinders is always going to be two cylinders short of the real deal, which is why earlier EA and EF falcons ultimately made way for this fine EL XR8. To use Tim's words "I would just drool when I heard a V8. I just couldn't resist the sound of a V8, despite petrol, insurance etc. I didn't care".

Tim originally considered the later AU model, but despite higher levels of performance, found the interior to be too "boxed and unrefined" and the exterior "too round and pastie shaped". The shape of this fully optioned series II EL XR8 was just what he was looking for and the 185kW and 402Nm of torque was a good starting point for some subtle mods that make the most of that muscular shape.
The first enhancement to take your attention are the 17 x 8" ROH mags that look like they were made for the car. The overall look is enhanced by lowered Pedders SportsRyder suspension. Other aesthetic enhacements include a BA XR8 decals, dual sequential scoops on the bonnet and of course a V8 Mumbo sticker on the rear window. Under the bonnet the engine cover has been removed and replaced with a "5 litre V8" plaque and a modified air box. That sweet V8 now sounds as it should courtesy of a 3" Supercat exhaust system.

Tim's future plans for the car are "to add GT40P heads, 2031 cam, 1.7 roller rockers, 65mm AU throttle body, 73mm MAF, under drive pulleys etc .. aiming for around 180kW at the wheels. Hoping to squeeze it in without needing larger injectors and fuel reg. and to finish the engine bay with a few little cosmetic bits n pieces."
If you see Tim cruizing the streets of Adelaide, give him the thumbs up 'cause this is one sweet ride.
