Mumbo Members: Terry and Sandi, Albany, WA

Wildfire continued...

In 1998 Terry took Wildfire off the road and started on a two year intensive restoration process that has resulted in the van taking out numerous trophies including second place in the modified street car category at the 2000 Narrogin Revheads show.

Despite being nearly 20 years old the Sundowner's body was in reasonably good condition with the dreaded tin worm only showing up in a few places. Terry chose to replace the faded yellow paint with Ford colour Cobalt Blue which was applied by Terry with the help and advice of some knowledgeable mates.

A fine day for a cruize in beautiful Albany.

The detail in the artwork can be clearly seen in this shot.

Terry's wife Sandi came up with the idea for the unicorn murals.

"Sandi has always had a thing for unicorns and given the van had horse murals on it when I got the car it seemed to fit perfectly", Terry tells us.

Friend and airbrush artist Laith Kingsbury was inspired by the large canvas offered by the Sundowner's flanks and went to work in the close confines of Terry's shed freehand painting a stallion on the drivers side and a mare on the other.

So inspired by the project was Laith that he finished one side of the car working 24 hours straight!

The interiour of the van is a subtle mix of reconditioned stock and tasteful modifications. The interior was reupholstered in a grey/blue wool sourced from Sydney and works well with the overall scheme of the car. The rear of the van has been decked out with solid jarrah tops, ceiling mirror tiles and the obligatory custom fit mattress made by Terry's mum, an experienced seamstress.
