The tropical forest was replete with dense vegetation. Light from the sun rippled along the jungle floor illuminating a thick undergrowth. There was a gentle breeze that produced shadows on the jungle floor seen to swing back and forth with the movement of the above ground vegetation. Life forms were abundant and their movements easily detected, both flying through the air and scurrying throughout the ground foliage. The thick scent of jungle and heaviness of the atmosphere squeezed all life forms, like tentacles of an octopus. Sounds of life crackled everywhere.

The weather was warm and humid, as one would expect in such an environment. The sky appeared deep blue as if someone had spilled a can of dense blue paint into the heavens above. In contrast, a few white billowy clouds floated randomly above slowly moving too and fro with the high altitude currents. The surrounding waters were calm with only slight wave action sweeping along by a touch of gentle breezes.  Reflections of the sparse clouds played upon the waters like the twirling of ballet dancers upon the stage.

Could this be planet earth millions of years ago?  Suddenly, a creature was seen cavorting through the jungle. At first impression, it looked like an upright Being who was bi-pedal with long hair, possibly an ape of some sort. No, not an ape.  The creature's hair was blonde and long. It had a pinkish-white smooth skin seemingly without body hair. This creature appeared to be human in all respects and appeared to be male. Upon closer inspection the Being was not just an ordinary naked male but showed a perfection both in form and action.  His legs were muscular and rippled as he ran. His eyes were deep blue and appeared to be two limped, liquid pools. He was able to leap great heights, plucking vegetation from the trees. At the same time latching on to low tree branches to propel himself forward. Every so often he would stop to rest, sit and prop himself up against a tree to devour the food he had plucked from the trees. His height was about five-foot six inches and his estimated weight in the neighborhood about 150lbs. No other similar creatures could be seen.

The darkness of night crept slowly over the land and all signs of life melted into the blackness. The winds became silent and the oceans displayed the reflected light of the night sky like a mirror. Suddenly, in the midst of this calm, the air began to stir and a breeze manifested. It had no direction and made the skin tingle like a pulsing electric current. It wasn't a normal sensation. Something artificial. From far up in the blackness of the nocturnal sky, a single star began to shine with great magnitude. It became brighter and brighter and began to descend to earth, closer, closer, and closer. The electrical pulsation's made the body hair stand erect. The whispering breeze became more pronounced. A large multi-storied circular craft began slowly to make itself apparent. A lighting array circled the craft showing a rainbow of colors. Windows could be seen. It was silent and approached slowly as if floating free and defiant of any gravitational forces acting upon it. The immensity of the craft was overwhelming. It was easily seen as at least two city blocks in diameter.

Without warning, a cone of bright, intense bluish white light issued forth from the under surface of the craft. The craft began to move slowly, it inched it's way along over the thick, dense jungle as if searching for something. Then all at once it came to a dead stop. The bright cone of light widened and focused on the ground. In the center of the beam the form of the sleeping pink skinned blonde haired creature was apparent.  Next, this humanoid creature is seen eerily floating up in the middle of the light beam. As it approaches the under surface of the craft, an aperture opens and the ship swallows the humanoid figure. Just as suddenly as it came, the light beam switches off. The craft slowly begins to rise and increase in speed until all that can be seen is a fading brilliant star beginning to take its place among it's stellar cousins

Conceptually, only a short amount of time passes, perhaps just days, perhaps months or even years. This is uncertain. The scene is the same with the same stillness of the night and another clear crystal black sky. Once again, the air begins to slowly move. The electrical effect becomes apparent and a star begins to descend from the heavens. The noted difference between the two events, is the twin moons which begin to shine their reflected light upon the planet. One with a bright white color and the other, a deep pink.  They illuminate both the land and the water and it is now apparent there is only one large land mass surrounded by a mighty ocean that covers the surface of the planet.

The ship descends slowly as it had previously. Once it reaches a height of several hundred feet over the jungle terrain the strange cone shaped beam of light issues forth and falls upon the dense jungle below. Two humanoid beings are seen in floating in a fetal position and slowly descending to the soft cushioned floor of the jungle below. Through the brightness of the light, it is evident that one of the Beings is the same male who was taken previously, the other is without a doubt a humanoid female. She is the epitome of beauty, well endowed with long blonde hair which drapes her shoulders as if she was wearing a shawl.

Her legs are long and shaped to perfection. Her proportions likened to an hour glass. Her facial features appearing angelic with blue eyes and a facial expression of utmost peace.  Once deposited on the ground below, the male stands before the female. Their eyes meet and arms entwine in a romantic embrace. As in the previous encounter, the light beam suddenly vanishes and the ship slowly begins to rise. Because of the brightness emerging from the twin moons much of the circular craft's under structure can be visualized. There is a noted complexity of construction which is far beyond our comprehension. One outstanding feature becomes apparent, a large insignia with extremely clear three dimensional writing, "The United States Airforce-Non Terrestrial Unit 605"

The aforementioned scenario was a fictitious event framed in the future, but it's theme is ancient and borrowed from the Bible. Perhaps these events did occur here on earth and are responsible for humankind? This, we must understand is all speculative, but the events occurring today regarding the field of Ufology and particularly the Alien Abduction phenomena are real and difficult to understand.

Mary Rodwell is an investigator and author, who in the writing of Awakening, has captured the very essence of the subject. Never before in the history of Ufology has anyone succeeded in setting forth the amount of material referenced in this work. In her writing, she not only sights the individual experiences of abductees, but delves with great prowess into both the physical and psychological components of the phenomena. She is careful to stay with the facts at hand and clearly lays out the commonalties of the experiences.

I am sure the reader will be fascinated with the ultrapersonal aspects concerning the medical and non medical signs and symptoms. Also included are the psychological aspects that many times don't get the attention they deserve. Mary should be given an award for her ability to present a clear and concise in depth perspective of this phenomena from both a personal and non personal standpoint. This will translate into one giant step regarding the much needed help for experiencers who need this kind of general support and trust.

Although Mary Rodwell is not a scientist or medical doctor, Awakening presents medical and scientific evidence pertaining to the reality of this phenomena which is so very important to the experiencers and the public at large. It is time for the mythological aspects of this subject to be erased forever.

Mary Rodwell also touches, in a very comprehensive fashion, on an aspect of abductions that is beginning to make itself more apparent. That is, the actual purpose. Why are these events happening all over the world to so many people? One possibility is the human race is being genetically manipulated and perhaps this process has occurring throughout our past history.

Mary has done a superb job in illustrating the fact that children of today may be different than those born fifty or so years ago. The facts of my own study prove this to be the case. I have used 17 functional growth characteristics and compared them over a forty year period from 1947 to 1987. I have found there has been an accelerated change in these statistics varying from 16 to 80%. Most will agree, this is very specific data and can not be attributed to the evolutionary process or any other known global or environmental factors.

It should also be understood that this process seems to involve the expansion of consciousness. Have you ever stood in awe and wondered about the statement your young child has just uttered and perhaps retorted by saying, "Where in the world did you get that from? This gives solid evidence the human race is being genetically manipulated. It is also felt in certain scientific circles that our understanding of modern genetics can be used to prove this beyond the shadow of a doubt.

Awakening looks at this subject in a very objective manner and sites numerous examples of literary references. In this comprehensive work, Mary Rodwell concerns herself with numerous other related subjects, such as the Missing Pregnancy Syndrome, an Encyclopedia of PSI abilities as well as a very comprehensive chapter on Alien Implants.  The manner of this text is an extremely clear and concise review of the Abduction experience, from initial contact through the understanding and coping process.

In my opinion this will become the bible of the Alien Abduction phenomenon and will make itself apparent in every library the world over.
