Mick's V8 Celica

Engine

This area where the brake booster bolts up. It sat proud of the firewall by 10mm and needed to be cut out and made to sit flush as the engine was hitting the booster.

A bigger 3 core all metal radiator from a v8 commodore was installed. The front panels needed to be cut back 50mm both sides to accommodate the wider radiator. Make sure radiator top does not sit higher than the front panels or the bonnet will not close.

There is no room for the original engine fan so two 10 inch thermo fans were used. The engine sits in there nicely but a different crossmember is needed. From memory mine is from a Corona RT142 with Hilux engine mounts. Power steering installed as the original steering box gets in the way of exhaust.

These engines normally have an auto but I wanted a 5 speed manual, so an adapter kit is needed to bolt the Supra gearbox to the engine.

Most of these engines I have seen are covered with light corrosion, probably from sitting on the dock near the sea awaiting shipment. This can affect the starter motor and alternator as mine was. I strongly recommend checking these parts before installing the engine.
