Fuel system

All of this is jammed into that little space between the inside rear guard and spare wheel compartment. Not much room for 2 pumps, 2 filters, a surge tank and a heap of fuel line that looks like a bowl of spaghetti.

That's the Carter primary pump with 3 nuts on top. I had to recess it into the floor so it would fit into this area. This pump sucks the fuel from the tank and fills the surge tank and easily keeps up with the EFI pump.

Here we have a Commodore VL EFI pump. It is fed fuel from the surge tank and pumps it at high pressure to the engine. If you noticed no hose clamps on the filters, this is just set up for photo purposes only.

The surge tank holds 1 litre of fuel and is there to ensure there is always fuel to feed the EFI pump just in case there is momentary lack of pick up from the main tank.

Because of the height of the surge tank and lack of space, I made a raised cover to hide everything. It is only about 2 inches above floor height in this area so it does not cause a problem.

This is after the black carpet is down in the cargo area under the liftback.

A bit more of my handy work. The home made drop tank especially designed and shaped to fit between the 2 turbo mufflers. It's good for about 70 litres.
