Our Parish welcomes Fr Tim Deeter who has joined St Paul's as the Parish Administrator. We wish him a happy and fruitful stay in our Parish.

Fr Tim Deeter

TEACHING OUR CHILDREN TO LOVE THE LITURGY
St Paul's Primary School children have been celebrating weekly Masses or Liturgies of the Word in the parish church and growing in their understanding of the liturgy.  Fr Tim has explained to each class the meaning of the vestments, the sacred vessels, and items in the church like the tabernacle, baptismal font, and Stations of the Cross.  He has also taken the pre-primary children on a tour of the sacristy, which was a bit hit with the little ones.  Eventually each class will have a sacristy tour.
Most of the school, except the youngest children, came to the church on Tuesday 22 September for an end-of-term Mass of Thanksgiving.  Then they returned on Thursday 15 October to open the new term with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Scriptural Rosary, and Benediction.  Father visited the school the previous day to explain to the children what would happen, and to teach them their responses and the Divine Praises for Benediction, as well as the traditional Marian hymn, "Immaculate Mary".  The Rosary and Benediction were celebrated with full solemnity, and the children participated very well in all the prayers and hymns.  Afterward, one of the altar servers said, "I get the most out of church when I'm serving" -- an insightful comment on the importance of service as an expression of faith.  And an older boy commented to Father as he was leaving church, "I was a little restless at the beginning of the Rosary, but by the end, I was really praying!"

While Father Tim is away in America, the RE teachers will bring the children to church to make a visit to the Blessed Sacrament.  We look forward to future liturgies and paraliturgies, and we pray that our children will grow in the 'faith of our fathers (and mothers)' and learn to love Jesus and Mary more and more.

star bulletNew weekday Mass times May 2009

Last year we introduced a new weekday mass
timetable to the parish on a trial basis to be
reassessed at Easter.

While the 5.45pm on Mon, Tues and Thurs
has proven to be appealing to people, the Friday
morning Mass at 7am and the 11am Mass on the
1st Sun at the RSL has not.

The logical solution is the following Mass timetable
which will take effect commencing this week.

Weekday Mass time changes from May 2009

Monday 5.45pm Church

Tuesday 5.45pm Church

Wednesday 9.00am at RSL

Thursday 5.45pm Church

Friday 9.00am at RSL

Saturday No Morning Mass

Weekend Mass Times will remain unchanged

Saturday Vigil 6pm
Sunday 8am and 9.30am
