Ralph Samuels was the publisher
of a small Australian magazine called 'World Acrobatics.' He died in 2004. I
am a lover of contortion (See my pages Contortionists
in Australia ) After he died I was offered his collection of photographs
used in the magazine over the years. He always published in black and white,
because colour printing was very expensive when he started and most people then
took black and white photos. However many photos sent to him in subsequent years
were in colour. These will of course appear on these pages in colour. The Internet
makes colour imagery so much easier.
As a tribute to him I want to have this website show a representation of the artists of his era. I could not possibly show more than a sample of the thousands of pictures he collected, but I am sure to find out more about him and the artists he portrayed as I go. So this is a work in progress - for quite a long time! Here first of all are some pictures showing the incredible skill and strength of adagio dance couples. I have little more than the photos and the names of the artists. If you can tell me more I will be happy to add to the page details as I go.
