The New Ships of the New Anglican Confederation Royal Navy

Auxiliary ships of the RN:

Often forgotten due to the high profile nature of the Major Combat Vessels, the Auxiliary Ships of the RN play just as important a role.  Without supply and fueling ship the combat vessels of the RN would soon be incapable of projecting any power beyond their local systems.  Just as important are the ships and bases of the RN Maintenance Command, which perform essential refits and maintenance in addition to repairing ships that limp back after major engagements.  It is these Auxiliary Ships and bases that ensure the RN is able to ultimately prevail over the often less organized navies they are called to counter.

Supply Ships:

Blue Ridge Class AFS:

A common sight for RN servicemen is the aging Blue Ridge Class cruising alongside performing a RAS operation.  The Blue Ridge's have performed yeoman's service for many years and will continue to do so into the foreseeable future, bring the most numerous of the RN supply ships.

TMF: 100  NPV: 193

Hinkley Class AG:

One of the newer Auxiliaries the Hinkley is a "Miscellaneous" Support Ship, meaning that it has no one set supply role.  It can carry plasma, foodstuffs, ammunition, personnel and a has a light shuttle which is capable of performing an ad-hoc refining role on Gas Giants; however it is nowhere nearly as efficient in this role as a proper Refinery Ship.  Capable of Defending itself from only the lightest of attacks it does require escort in all but the most secure of zones.

TMF: 70  NPV: 150

Wichita Class APR:

The Wichita Refueling ships are a cheaper and more cost effective ship than the older Blue Ridge, however whereas the Blue Ridge specializes in combat stores the Wichita specializes in fuel.  Though both classes can carry a mix, they are both more efficient when undertaking their primary role.  A Wichita is an ever-present in the larger Battle fleets of the RN; providing both a useful extension of range and a valuable emergency supply of plasma should a ship have to dump its core.

Blackpool Class ARF:

An absolute must for Deep Space Fleets, the Blackpool Class Refinery Ship is both a fully functional refinery and tanker storage ship in one.  The large hanger bay houses a shuttle that is as large as a Frigate.  This shuttle is capable of full atmospheric flight, meaning that it can gather Hydrogen from both Gas Giants and Planets with water or ice.  The Blackpool class is capable of processing raw Hydrogen almost as fast as the shuttle can gather it, and the Blackpool class can dispense it almost as fast again.  Lightly built, it is a large target which will go up in a very large explosion if not protected from raiders.

Texas Class AK:

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that is why this class has been given the name.  Actually built as bulk freighters for civilian purposes, several of these mammoth ships have been purchased by the RN and given a minor refit.  Still lightly armed despite the refit these ships are now capable of keeping up with other fleet Auxiliaries.  Designed only for the movement of resources from core worlds to outlying bases, they are almost never placed alongside major fleets.  More likely to see Pirates than a first line enemy fleet they are a large expensive assets requiring constant escort.

Ships and Bases of the RN Maintenance Command:

White Class AR:

The smallest of the Maintenance Command facilities, the White Class is a moving repair yard carrying a plethora of spare parts and a mass of technicians.  It has the ability to dry dock a ship of up to 16 mass units and carries a small (1 mass) worker shuttle that allows its technicians to tend to larger ships.  The White Class also have the ability to tug a ship of up to 12 mass units through FTL, meaning it can also act as an ad-hoc Tug for disabled small vessels.  Not designed to deal with major refits or extreme battle related damage, it is nonetheless a welcome sight for ships suffering from minor ailments.  (In campaign game terms it can only repair damage to the first row, and cannot repair damaged "core" systems; unless the damaged ship has a TMF of 16 or less, in which case it can completely repair the ship)

TMF: 100  NPV: 272

FIMA Base Station:

FIMA is an acronym for Fleet Interim Maintenance Auxiliary, they are a series of strategically located bases where the Maintenance Command undertakes minor refits and repairs to vessels smaller than Destroyer Size.  Hosting several different docks and bays a FIMA base is a complete one stop shop for all manner of minor vessels.  It can perform a full refit on a vessel of mass 30 whilst simultaneously repairing a mass 10 minor vessel and a full squadron of fighters.  The mass 6 hold contains two mass 3 service craft that tend to larger vessels in need of repair.  Quite substantial in structural integrity, its light defensive armament is only designed to hold off the most desultory of attacks.  Therefore the a FIMA base will require around the clock defense support if it is to last any length of time.  (In campaign game terms it can only repair damage to the first and second rows, and cannot repair damaged "core" systems; unless the damaged ship has a TMF of 30/10 or less, dependant on the docking bay in use; in which case it can completely repair the ship)

TMF: 180  NPV: 538

King George Class FRD:

The King George Class Fleet Repair Dock is an enormous vessel that is capable (though barely) of self propulsion.  Incapable of FTL travel under its own steam it relies on a group of Very Large Tugs to shift it from one system to another, this is a major logistical undertaking and therefore an uncommon occurrence.  Capable of dry docking anything under Battle Cruiser Size all refits of Cruisers performed outside of the RN Shipwrights Birthing Yards will be undertaken at a King George.  Also capable of serving a squadron of fighters or ship of up to 6 mass units whilst servicing a larger ship.  The two size 3 bays are for service craft that are similar to those found at a FIMA base.  Enormous in size it is only capable of defending itself from small scale raids, therefore it tends to be kept in systems where there is a large RN presence.  (In campaign game terms it can only repair damage to the first, second and third rows, but can repair any damaged systems including "core" ones.  If the damaged ship has a TMF of 100/6 or less, dependant on the docking bay in use, it can completely repair the ship)

TMF: 340  NPV: 1078

Deep Space Tugs:

Mule Class ATF:

Whilst the RN has numerous classes of sub-light tugs it currently only runs two types of FTL tug, the Mule is the smaller of the two classes.  Capable of towing up to 60 mass units through FTL the mule is a useful little vessel.  The size of a Destroyer, the Mule is fragile in comparison with almost no armament to speak of, only a single PDS; regardless the Mule performs its role well and is a welcome sight to the crew of a cripple vessel.

TMF: 24  NPV: 73

 Samson Class ATF:

Basically a scaled up version of the Mule, the Samson is the big daddy in the Space Tug world.  At the size of a Cruiser it can tow up to a phenomenal 132 mass units through FTL, this means it can tow a crippled Thunderer Class Battleship to a repair station.  Still a fragile craft with little more combat survivability than its smaller cousin.
